My name is Linda Smith and I have been doing family research on my maiden name Altom for some time now. Through hours of research and help from family and friends I have been able to compile a fairly complete list of my Altom line. A special thanks to ALL who have helped me in my quest.
If you follow the family listed below you will be viewing the line that I descend from. I have highlighted my direct line.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO POST A MESSAGE TO MY SITE FOR OTHERS TO VIEW-A TYPE OF OPEN FORUM, FOR US ALTOM FRIENDS AND FAMILY TO SHARE INFORMATION WITH EACH OTHER-THEN CLICK HERE.

David Hiram(Bud) Altom(1870-1949)
Jesse Earl Altom(1905-1967)
Boyd Wayne Altom(1930-1973)
married Rhoda Marie(Kitts) Children:
My Altom's moved into Arkansas through my gggrandfather, William S. and wife, Katerine(also referred to as Nancy). My first record of them in Arkansas was in 1880, when they were listed on the US Census reports for Randolph Co. AR. My ggrandfather, David Hiram, was 11 years old at the time. Apparently, they were there only a short time before moving on further south into Lawrence Co. near Smithville, AR. It was while they were living in Smithville that David married Mary Betts of Cleburne Co.(Hiram, AR) He was 23 at the time. They lived for a short time in Lawrence and White Counties before making their home in Independance Co., near Floral, AR. where David and Mary lived for over 30 years. They are both buried at Union Gove(Board Shanty)Cemetary in Floral, Ar., along with two of their children: Francis C. and Jesse Earl(My grandfather). Their other two children are buried at Cedar Grove Cemetary in Floral.
VARIATIONS ON THE SURNAME: ALTOM, AULTOM, ALTUM, ALTON, AND OCCASIONALLY HALTOM
