STK2000
Update Log
|
Release 20020918: Added surface type in the header description of each race.
Release 20020724: Added an option to calculate the RunLine score as the average percent of horses that this horse outran. The default is to use the new number.
Release 020610: Moved the updates and accessories to the new Registered Users download site.
Release 010522: Removed third-party applications from the zip download.
Release 010315: Changed the File > Results X menu item to File Results R.DOC and pointed it to a results entry function that uses R.DOC files to enter results. Only R.DOC files are visible in the R.DOC file list box. Changed the File > Open menu item to only show .DOC files.
Release 010314: Opened Stk2000 up to use any data file in the BRIS ( B ) Single File Format. Included in Stk2000 all the progress that was made during the Stk2000B development. Stk2000 is now essentially the same as Stk2000B. This release is shareware. It can be used silently for free. It can be registered for $25 and get unlimited telephone, email, message board, and chat room support from the author of the software. Register for latest updates.
Release 990803: Corrected an error that could cause the A selection and B, C, or D to be the same horse when all profile weights were set to zero. Restored the Column Analysis mode that somehow got lost when the Training module was added. Added text to the Column-Analysis-Mode message box to show the Min and Max distances that will be in effect during the analysis.
Release 990728: Rewrote the criteria recognition function in the auto-runline-selection module.
Release 990727: Found and fixed a bug that caused failure to auto-select the correct runline for the runline selection criteria "When criteria is met use: Best #2 speed".
Release 990721: Changed the Auto feature to a button next to the One Pass button. The Auto button cycles through all the variable weights until there is no change. Any time there is a change it goes through another "One Pass" cycle.
Release 990720: Changed the mouse pointer to hourglass while the optimization passes are taking place.
Release 990718: Found and fixed the ABC% problem.
Release 990717: Included an Auto button to make one pass through all the variables in the training function. Added an All Zero button to zero out the profile data and an All Tens button to make the profile data all 10s. Still have a problem with ABC% not working.
Release 990716: Implimented the Save-Profiles function. It names and saves the updated profile with all profile names within the range defined by the Min and Max distance boxes.
Release 990715: Completed the function that selects the best weight for each variable. At this stage of development the user must click on each variable button to get its best weight. Later this will all be automatic. The save-profiles function is not yet implimented except via the profile adjust box.
Release 990713: Completed the first function of the new training module. This function loads races that meet the distance criteria set in the training frame into a database stored in high speed memory. This design speeds up and simplifies the training process.
Release 990711: Replaced the profile training button in the Profile Box with a Train menu item and started a profile training frame. The actual training process is not yet functional. We will be uploading regularly while building this process so that our Beta testers can contribute to the look and feel of it.
Release 990708: Added an option to the Criteria Box to include the "Best Quarter" ranking as part of the runline score. Improved directory tracking among components when switching directories so that the DOS window and Racing Form window automatically follow the Main form directory changes.
Release 990707: Added selections to the criteria to allow use of a choice of #2, #10, or #12 speeds to determine the best race when that option is selected in the runline criteria.
Release 990704: Fixed a problem that showed up in HOL0702 results where pick six payoffs greater than $32,767 caused an overflow error. While at it fixed the same potential problem in all other payoff routines.
Release 990618: Added the D selection back to the Main screen display. This was overlooked when we did the recovery from the "Unexpected Error" problem. Removed the documentation from the "Complete Package Download" and placed it in its own zip file AAAA.ZIP to reduce download time.
Release 990610: Found and fixed the "Unexpected Error" problem and updated Stk2000 to its 990603 stage of development. This problem happened when we installed and ran "Web Tracker Gold". That software replaces VB5's COMDLG32.OCX with its own version which is not completely compatible with VB5. Anyone who installs "Web Tracker Gold" may find problems running Visual Basic programs. Uninstalling "Web Tracker Gold" does not fix the problem. The fix is to uninstall "Web Tracker Gold"; run "Regedit" to delete the VB5 and VB6 registry nodes that reference COMDLG32.OCX from the Windows/System registry; then reinstall Visual Basic and Windows. Not easy!!
Release 990603: Reverted back to release 990526 while we locate a bug that crept in. Some computers get an "Unexpected Error" with releases after 990526. This happens immediately on program load. If you don't see the error, you are safe to continue with the later releases.
Release 990603: Found and fixed a bug in Install that sometimes failed to place the Stk2000 icon on the desktop.
Release 990530: Removed commas from the Criteria #18 description. The program considered the commas delimiters and loaded the description parts in separate text areas when a saved criteria.dat was loaded. This fix causes the description to load correctly.
Release 990528: Added Criteria #19 to allow the use of the running style position in column #5 the Late Pace column. Options are: 0 use late speed only, 1 use running style only, 2 mix running style and late speed. This is the proprietary HDW Running_Style Pos(TM) number. The number is doubled and subtracted from 80 to make it compatible with the Stk2000 selection process.
Release 990527: Added to Criteria #18 selections for turf, wet, and combinations of the 4 point scores that can be included in the Runline Score. Selections are: 0 = include none, 1 = include horse point score for last two years; 2 today's distance; 3 = turf races; 4 = off tracks; 5 = 1 & 2; 6 = 1 & 3; 7 = 1 & 4; 8 = 1 & 2 & 3; 9 = 1 & 2 & 4. Default is zero, include none. To change the criteria box you must first load the defaults, change each criteria then save it back.
Release 990526: Extended the Roll-For-Speed function to selections C and D to make Stk2000 the same as Stk99. Added the D selection to the Main screen race display.
Release 990517: Added a profile training function in the Profile Change box. To initiate it click the Odds command button and select Train Profiles.
Release 990516: Added to Criteria #18 the ability to restrict the point score to races at today's distance. Option #1 of Criteria #18 is include point score for last 2 years; Option #2 is lifetime at today's distance; Option #3 is use both #1 and #2.
Release 990515: Improved the ability to edit, cut, copy, and paste in the Analysis Text box. Use Right mouse click in the text area to pull up the edit menu. A RaceDay file will now open from selected text in the Analysis Text box on mouse button release only if the selected text is more than 7 characters and less than 12 characters in length. Edit copy and cut functions must be inside or outside of the 7 - 12 range.
Release 990514: Increased the ability of Stk2000 to decipher results for exotic bets and added Pick 3, Pick6 and Quinellas to the results display.
Release 990509: Added the 18th criteria to the Criteria Box and fixed a problem that showed up in AQU0509. Finish times were zero in some races of AQU0509 causing invalid speed numbers. Fixed by excluding races with unreasonable finish times. Criteria #18 allows users to include the horse's point score for the last two years in the Runline Score. Default is 0; do not include; select 1 in the box to include. Point score equation is wins + wins + places + shows / ( races + 5 ) * 100.
Release 990508: Added a feature to the Profile Box to allow users to input a number that Stk2000 adds to the total points of each horse whose last race back met the runline criteria that was set up in the Criteria Box when the race was handicapped. The number does not become part of the data file and defaults to zero each time the program starts.
Release 990507: Changed the automatic file conversion function to use the complete track and mmdd codes to allow downloads of multiple days at the same track. Also fixed the problem where convert.bat sometimes failed to copy the converted files to the Stk2000 directory. The new conversion .BAT file is CONV.BAT and must be in the HDW directory. INSTALL puts it there. Note: This release calls CONV.BAT. Previous releases called CONVERT.BAT. The convert.bat file was left in the install routine for backward compatibility.
Release 990506: Activated the Cancel Button on the Helpers menu input box. Cancel exits without doing anything. Previously, clicking cancel didn't exit without executing the batch command.
Release 990504: Fixed a problem that showed up in EVD0503.STK after conversion. Missing ML odds caused a Runtime error. Program now sets ML odds at 99 if they are missing in the file.
Release 990429: Fixed a problem that crept in on the 28th upload that caused the first horse in the first race to be missed by the Racing Form screen.
Release 990428: Added a refresh function to the File; Open; menu items to automatically refresh the file list boxes each time they are opened to avoid confusion about which files are actually present in the folder.
Release 990427: Fixed a Runtime error 63 that happened when the "Print Form" menu item was selected immediately after Auto handicapping. Auto was failing to reset the record number and so the Print Form function couldn't find the first record.
Release 990425: Included images in the .ZIP file so that local viewing of the documentation contains the images. Fixed an overflow error in the Test module that happened when a horse name exceeded 25 characters in length.
Release 990424: Fixed an overflow error that happened if data numbers exceeded 500 and profile numbers were in the range of 100 ( normally in the range of 80 and 10 resp.) The fix was to limit total score value to 32767 (Max integer size). Changed the program to make the directory with focus be the current directory to reduce confusion among users as to what is the current directory. Now the directory with focus (looks like an open folder) is the current directory, this was not necessarily the case before.
Release 990422: Fixed some bugs that caused "Subscript out of range" errors when race distances were longer than 16 furlongs. Changed HDW.EXE to use an alternate math software routine if the Math Co-Processor was missing from the computer.
Release 990420: Added SAVEVAR.BAT and GETVAR.BAT and their associated help files to the helpers menu. Changed INSTALL.BAT to delete CONVERT.BAT from the Main folder after moving it to the HDW folder to prevent accidental clicking on it from the Helpers; Help menu. ( Doing so erases all .STK files in the folder ! )
Release 990417: Changed the "Save As HTML" function to test for html tags to prevent it from duplicating the header and footer when a file is already in html format. Fixed a "File already open" error that sometimes happened when exiting from the analysis function.
Release 990416: Added Stk2000 documentation to the zip package. To see the documentation locally run Stk2000 and click File; Edit, then in the edit dialog box that pops up right click aaaa. From the Right-Click menu, click Open.
Release 990415: Added a button to the Simulator to clean up its associated tip sheet game.txt. Clicking the button erases game.txt.
Release 990413: Corrected some errors in the Install program so that it installs all the files needed for the data conversion. Added results to the data conversion.
Release 990412: Fixed a bug that caused the program to crash when time and distance data was corrupt. This shows up in the Main Form Test function. The corrupt data that it showed up in was WOX0409.STK. The data for the last horse in the first race was corrupt after results entry.
Release 990411: Changed Stk2000 to automatically use CONVERT.BAT when a file in the HDW directory is clicked. Conversion is automatic, in the background, and invisible taking about 2 seconds per data file. There is a residual DOS process left on the task bar that must be closed with a mouse click. Updated the documentation.
Release 990410: Combined the DAYIS and GET helpers bat files into CONVERT.BAT. Changed the properties of the helpers menu so that CONVERT.BAT would run from the HDW directory by clicking it from Stk2000. Added convert.hlp to the helpers menu to explain the operation of convert.bat.
Release 990409: Fixed an error in the main-form Test function that happened when an exacta payoff was more $9999.
Release 990406: Added a "Save As" menu item to the Racing Form screen so that the text produced could be saved as a different name than the file that was loaded.
Release 990404: Added a criteria item #16 to append the Jockey's name to the horse's name during the Racing Form handicapping function. When this criteria is selected, the Jockey's name becomes associated with the horses name in the data file.
Release 990402: Added a "Test" menu item to the main form to view the raw data of previously handicapped race day files. Added a function to automatically size the analysis text area to fit the size of the main form to facilitate full screen viewing of the raw data file contents.
Release 990331: Changed back to the Stk99 algorithm for calculating the Runline Score.
Release 990330: Changed the "Handicap" screen to exclude post position numbers (this was redundant since the horses are in PP order) to create more real estate on the page and added Total Points, and Jockey's point score to the display. Added the ability to include an HTML header and footer in the "Save As" function so that web pages are automatically created. The HTML header and footer are added when any file is saved with an html extension. User created files named head.htm and foot.htm become the header and footer for the saved html file.
Release 990329: Included averaged runlines in the Distance-Time-Lengths back display and in the MPH calculation. Averaged distance and times are saved in the data file instead of the last workout distance and times as was the case in Stk99.
Release 990328: Added work-around for data files that contain mostly zero's in the runline Pace data fields (Foreign tracks etc.) Added a user selectable criteria item that uses today's post position as part of the adjustment in the Adjusted Speed column #12.
Release 990326: Added Miles Per Hour ( MPH ) to the Test screen. Added a workout par table so that speed numbers generated for works are not necessarily the same as the same distance-time speed numbers generated for races. The criteria for the workout par table is adjustable from the "File-Setup" menu item on the Racing Form screen. The workout par table default is the same as the race par table default. ( Fatigue = 5, Beginning Sec per Furlong = 12, Pad = 80 ) This default was set to make the LAD track records for all distances produce a speed number of 100. Other track records will vary about + or - 5 speed points from 100.
